At the level of identity modelling elements of the concept-oriented model (COM) participate in inclusion hierarchy where each element has some super-element. This structure is precisely what is considered in the concept-oriented programming (COP). Hierarchical structure is intended for modelling how elements are represented and accessed. It is analogous to a hierarchical address system like postal addresses. The presence of the hierarchical structure in COM makes it similar to the hierarchical data model.
